second round scores and standings
SORRENTO, Fla. - A solid second round of two-over 73 puts Bill Jones into a share of 44th place at the NCAA Southeast Regional at the RedTail Golf Club course in Sorrento, Fla. The Conyers, Ga. native finished one-over par in both his front and back nine, carding a birdie and two bogies on either side of the turn.
Starting on the back-nine, Jones bogeyed the par-five 12th and the par-four 18th, but landed a birdie on the par-five 17th to pull a stroke back. After two further bogeys on the front, Jones again wrapped his round with a bang, getting another birdie on the par-four ninth to bring him to 144 (+2) on the tournament.
To qualify for the NCAA Finals, Jones will need to be the lowest scoring individual that is not one of the top five teams at the regional event. Currently, that position is occupied by Campbell’s Zak Drescher, who is in the clubhouse at 136 (-6).
Jones concludes his stay at the NCAA Southeast Regional tomorrow, with his tee time set for 8:20 a.m. Fans can follow the action live at www.golfstat.com.
