
Men's Soccer Set to Open Season at South Carolina

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's soccer team will open the 2015 season on Friday at 7 p.m. at South Carolina.

The Bears finished preseason play with a 2-1 win over Belmont on Saturday, Aug. 22.
SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA
South Carolina went 2-0-1 in preseason play, picking up wins over Gardner-Webb and Furman, while tying Winthrop, 1-1.
The Gamecocks return five starters from last year's team, which made the Conference USA Tournament Championship match. South Carolina also adds 11 newcomers to the roster for the 2015 season.
Mark Berson enters his 38th season as the head coach at South Carolina, and has guided the Gamecocks to a record of 461-210-68. He has also led South Carolina to 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.
MERCER NOTES
Mercer split preseason play with a loss to Evansville and a win over Belmont as the Bears prepped for the 2015 season.
Conner Antley scored two of Mercer's four goals in exhibition, as Emmet Johnson and Jordan Duru each added a goal apiece. Jeremy Booth has spent both games in goal for the Bears, notching two saves against Evansville.
South Carolina owns a 7-0 advantage in the series record, including a 2-0 win last season in Columbia.
