XC Makes Their Way to South Carolina

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer cross country teams will travel to the USC Upstate Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, in Spartanburg, SC. Mercer will face conference foes The Citadel, Furman, Western Carolina, and Wofford.

Mercer looks forward to this meet after a record-breaking weekend at the Liv in Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville, KY.

In the men's race, Vlad Zander-Velloso covered the E.P. Tom Sawyer Park 8000-meter course in an individual school record time of 24:41, a personal best performance by 40 seconds. He led the Bears with his 83rd-place finish out of 301 finishers. Following close behind was sophomore Jonathan Greene, who moved up 50 positions from the 2.1K split to finish to place 127th. His time of 24:59 was a personal record by 60 seconds and was 3rd fastest all-time for Mercer.

Mercer finished 16th out of 47 teams in the Women's Blue Race. Leading the Bears again this season was Brianna Teegarden with a time of 18:51. Her 63rd-place finish was also a personal record time. Coming in shortly after in 87th was Giulia Giorgi with a personal time of 19:03, to lower her best time by over 30 seconds.
