Bears will play seven-game fall schedule
MACON, Ga. – Mercer softball head coach Lindsay Fico is gearing up for her second season at the helm of the program by adding four transfer players to the Bears' roster.
"I feel like the addition of our four transfers, along with the three very talented freshmen we have brought in, will set a tone for our program moving forward," Fico said. "I am extremely excited to see how we look this fall in preparation of the spring."
Bailey Ledvina
Ledvina, an infielder from Newberry, Fla., transferred from East Carolina University where she was a four-year letterman. She was the AAC Player of the Week in February. In her career, she has played in 140 games with 11 home runs and 47 runs batted in. In the field, she has 248 put-outs and a .948 fielding percentage. In the classroom, she was listed on the AAC Academic Honor Roll for 2020-2022.
Coach Fico on Ledvina: "Bailey Ledvina will bring experience and leadership to our program. I have no doubt her presence will be felt by all around her, and I look forward to what she does as a Bear."
Emma Dorval
Dorval, an infielder, comes to Mercer from the University of British Columbia. She was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team at the 2019 Pan American games where she batted lead-off with .500 batting average and a fielding percentage of 1.000. She was also a member of the senior national team for the Canadian Celebration tour in 2022.
Coach Fico on Dorval: "Emma's work ethic precedes her. She came highly recommended from everyone in the Canadian national program. I know she will push her teammates to be better and can't wait to see all that she accomplishes."
Lillian Wilkerson
The Trenton, Florida, native played last season at Florida Gulf Coast University. Her high school team in Trenton won Florida state championships in 2019 and 2021 and finished as a runner-up in 2018.
Coach Fico on Wilkerson: "Lillian comes from a championship culture at Trenton High School and will no doubt carry that into her career here at Mercer. She is the type of player that coaches dream of."
Madilyn Wicker
Wicker is an infielder from Minneola, Florida. She is a transfer from Florida Gulf Coast University. Her high school team at East Ridge High School finished seventh in the nation her junior year (2019-2020) and was four-time district champions (2018-2021). Wicker batted .522 in 2018-2019, .625 in 2019-2020 and .511 in 2020-2021. She was twice named to the all-area first team. In her sophomore year, she broke the school record for most hits in a single season.
Coach Fico on Wicker: "Madi is a great addition to our program. We are very excited she has decided to be a Bear. We expect Madi to help us in the circle and in the box. Hardworking, respectful and eager to learn."
