Bears Send Five To CSC Academic All-District Honors

MACON – The classroom prowess of the nationally-ranked Mercer football team was on full display again on Wednesday morning when five student-athletes were crowned with academic all-district honors by College Sports Communicators.

Seniors Riley Adcock and Isaac Dowling were joined on the distinguished academic squad by sophomores Samuel Albee, Tommy Bliss and Reice Griffith to give the program its most academic all-district honorees in program history. Adcock picked up the honor for the third-straight year, while Dowling was lauded for the second time in three seasons. Wednesday's announcement marked the first-such honor for both Bliss and Griffith.

To receive academic all-district recognition, a football student-athlete must have at least a cumulative 3.50 grade point average as both an undergraduate and graduate student (if applicable) while competing in at least 90 percent or starting 66 percent of his team's games for the season.

In addition to being named academic all-district, Adcock, Albee, Dowling and Griffith are among a select group of all-district honorees that have advanced to the academic all-America ballot in recognition of their elite performance on the field and in the classroom.

The 2024-25 CSC Academic All-America Team is scheduled to be released later this month.
