Dubnik and Scheck In Top 5 After First Round Of SoCon Championship

Bears are tied for fifth
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mikayla Dubnik is tied for second place and Katie Scheck is tied for fifth after Monday's first round of the SoCon Championship from Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.
As a team, Mercer sits in a tie for fifth place with ETSU after shooting a first round of 24-over, 312. Furman leads the 9-team field at 7-over, 295.
Dubnik carded a first round of 1-over, 73 and is seven shots back of Furman's Audrey Ryu who had a great first round with a 6-under, 66. Scheck is one shot back of Dubnik after shooting a 2-over, 74 on Monday. Both Dubnik and Scheck had four birdies on their round which was tied for the fourth most birdies in the 45-player field.

The Bears were one of three teams on Monday to card 10 or more birdies as Mercer had 10 birdies, behind only UNCG's 14 and Furman's 12.
Mercer will start the second round off hole one, with Ella Mäki-Tanila getting things started for the Bears as the first to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
