Mercer Scorecard
Mercer on the Team Leaderboard
Mercer sits in the middle of the 16-team field and only five strokes outside of the top-five. Illinois State (12-under-par) owns a five-stroke lead ahead of host Akron (seven-under-par).
Mercer on the Individual Leaderboard
Schorr carded a two-under-par 70 in round one thanks to a pair of birdies on the front nine and three birdies on the back nine. Ball, who shot two-over-par 74 on the first 18 holes, responded with an even par 72 in round two. The freshman birdied No. 17, eagled No. 18 and shot par on No. 1-2 to finish the strong second round.
Coach Kayden's Take
"We played OK today and just weren't consistent enough to sneak into the top three or four teams," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "We had a number of poor scores with too many balls in the hazards. We're just not getting it done consistent enough yet with this young team.
"We have a chance to finish this tournament on a strong note tomorrow and can earn a top-five finish. We'll need to continue to play better and have someone put us on their back tomorrow."
Up Next
Mercer is paired with William & Mary and Davidson College for Tuesday's third and final round, which tees off at 8:30 a.m.
