Football Begins Spring Practice Monday

MACON, Ga. – The 2016 football season officially came to an end Sunday night with Super Bowl LI. But for Mercer, the 2017 season began Monday morning as the Bears hit the field as spring practice kicked off.
Mercer will practice 15 times in between Monday and March 2 as the Bears hit the gridiron every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 a.m.
NCAA rules mandate the first two practices of the spring be in only helmets and shorts.
COACH LAMB'S COMMENTS
"We got out here at 8 o'clock this morning and it was 51 degrees so the good Lord has blessed us with great weather today. I think that certainly helped our guys as last year we had a couple practices that were in 28 degrees. Today was certainly a lot better than that."
"I thought our energy level was great. We are preaching tempo, tempo, tempo. We are trying to dumb it down a little bit from an offensive scheme and defensive scheme standpoint just so these guys can free up and play football. I was impressed with the way we threw the ball and caught the ball today. Just overall a good day today and a great start to the 2017 season."
