Bears Open Regular Season Schedule at Troy Friday

MACON, Ga. – Mercer's women's soccer team will begin their 2017 regular season campaign when they travel to face the Troy Trojans of the Sun Belt Conference this Friday at the Troy Soccer Complex, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer leads Troy 4-3-1 in the all-time series. In the most recent meeting (2012) between the two, the Bears were 4-1 victors at Troy. The Bears outshot Troy 14-9 in the match, with seven on goal. Casey Barrett netted the first goal in the match and then assisted on two more.

NOTABLES

Mercer returns five starters from their 2016 roster. The Bears also welcome 10 newcomers to the team, all freshmen.
The Bears are 3-3-1 in season openers over the past seven years, winning last season's opener over Alabama A&M, 6-0.
Mercer finished with a 10-9-1 overall record in 2016, holding a 6-3-0 Southern Conference mark, finishing third in the conference.
Following their match Friday, the Bears will have their home opener this Sunday, Aug. 20, when they play host to the Montevallo Falcons at 2 p.m. at Bear Field.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Troy finished the 2016 season with a 7-10-3 overall record, while holding a 3-5-2 conference mark. The Trojans most recently dropped a 2-0 decision in a preseason exhibition at South Florida last Saturday. Much like the Bears, Troy has an abundance of young faces, with 10 freshmen on their roster.
