Mercer Unveils 2018 Football Schedule

MACON, Ga. – Mercer University released its 2018 football schedule Wednesday, featuring an 11-game slate with five home games at Five Star Stadium and a pair of first-time clashes with Memphis and Yale on the road.

In conjunction with the release of Mercer's 2018 schedule, season ticket renewal packages for the Bears' five-game home season will hit mailboxes starting next week (Jan. 29-Feb. 3). Season ticket holders are also currently able to renew their tickets online using their existing account information to log in.

The Bears open the season at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tenn. against the Tigers on Sept. 1. Memphis went 10-3 last season, including a loss to Iowa State in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Mercer will round out its three-game nonconference schedule by hosting Jacksonville the following week (Sept. 8) and taking on Yale at historic Yale Bowl in New Haven, Conn. on Oct. 13. Yale went 9-1 (6-1 Ivy League) last season to clinch its first outright Ivy League title since 1980.

Southern Conference play begins Sept. 15 with a trip to Birmingham, Ala. to face Samford, followed by hosting The Citadel (Sept. 22) and traveling to VMI (Sept. 29) before reaching Mercer's bye week in week six.

The Bears' home slate includes Jacksonville, The Citadel, Western Carolina, ETSU and Furman, the latter of which advanced to the second round of the 2017 FCS playoffs. This marks only the second time since football was reintroduced at Mercer that the Bears will not play consecutive home games all season.
