Lawrence Garners Second SoCon Player of the Week Honor

Lawrence averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game this week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. –Mercer senior guard Kahlia Lawrence has been named Southern Conference Player of the Week for the final weekly award of the season. Lawrence's recognition as SoCon Player of the Week is the second of the season for the Georgia native as she was also named player of the week on Jan. 2.
Lawrence averaged 20.0 points this week, while also pulling down 5.5 boards, 2.0 steals and 1.3 assists per game. Lawrence scored 25 points in a 65-56 win over Chattanooga on Thursday to help the Bears seal the program's first-ever outright SoCon Regular Season Title. The senior guard then scored 15 in a 63-48 victory over ETSU to close out the regular season with a 27-2 overall record, including 14-0 in conference play.
Lawrence has been an instrumental player in Mercer's 24-game winning streak, marking the third longest active winning streak in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball.
Lawrence leads the SoCon in scoring, averaging 18.6 points per game, marking the third consecutive season averaging 18-or-more points. Lawrence is shooting 44.1 percent from the floor this season, while knocking down 30.9 from behind the line. Lawrence also leads the team in free throw percentage at 84.0 (79-94).
Lawrence and the 25th-ranked Bears return to action on Thursday against eight-seeded Western Carolina in the opening round of the 2018 SoCon Women's Basketball Championship. The two squads will tip off at 11 a.m. inside the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C.
