Bears Slip against Dolphins in Jacksonville

Mercer was held scoreless in an 8-0 loss to Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mercer Bears were held to just one hit on the evening, falling to the Dolphins of Jacksonville by the final score of 8-0 in five innings of play. The Bears fall to 15-6 after the loss, while Jacksonville improves to 12-9.
Jacksonville 8, Mercer 0
The Dolphins scored quickly in the opening inning after a three-run home run to left field by Ragan with just one out. The long ball came following a walk, single and a strikeout.
The host squad opened the floodgates in the third inning, scoring five runs on three hits and leaving one on base. With the bases juiced and one out, the Dolphins plated back-to-back runs following consecutive walks. After a pop up to shallow left, Griffith unloaded the bases for Jacksonville with a three-run double to left field for the 8-0 advantage.
Emma Andrew collected Mercer's only hit on the game with a one-out single in the top of the fifth inning.
