Mercer shoots 318 in day two, enters final round tied for second
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Mercer carded a 318 in the second round of the Southern Conference Championships on Monday to maintain a tie for second place at Moss Creek Golf Club's South Course.

The Bears (+49) will enter Tuesday's final round of play tied with Chattanooga (+49) while a pair of Bears – Payton Schanen and Hannah Mae Deems – are tied for fifth place individually. Three-time defending champion Furman (+27) extended its lead and owns a firm 22-stroke advantage over the Bears and Mocs.

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
After entering the day with a one-stroke advantage over Chattanooga, the Bears are locked with the Mocs after 36 holes of play. While a shot at the team title will prove difficult – Furman owns a 22-stroke lead on the field – Mercer has a shot at capturing its best finish since joining the conference in 2015.

Mercer on Individual Leaderboard
A four-over-par 76 by Hannah Mae Deems jumped the senior into a tie for fifth place Monday. Deems connected for a birdie on the par-five No. 4 and worked around five bogeys throughout the 18 holes to claim Mercer's best individual round of the day.

Deems and Payton Schanen – who entered the day as the individual leader – are both tied for fifth and just five strokes off of clubhouse leader Reona Hirai (Furman).

Mercer will play with Furman (+27) and Chattanooga (+49) in the third and final round of the SoCon Championships at Moss Creek Golf Club. All five Bears will tee off from hole No. 1.
