Senior batted .526 in Mercer’s four wins
MACON, Ga. – Mercer senior Jackson Ware was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week on Monday after batting .526 in Mercer's four wins in the week of March 26 to April 1.
Â
Ware batted 10-for-19 with three multi-hit performances along with nine runs batted in, five runs scored and one home run as Mercer defeated Florida A&M on the road and swept ETSU in Johnson City over the weekend.
Â
The senior tied his career-high of four RBI twice in consecutive games to start the week and matched another career-high of four hits in a 4-for-4 effort Thursday at ETSU. Ware tallied at least one hit in all four games.
Â
The Statesboro, Ga., native is batting .330 with 27 runs scored and 25 RBI this season. A jack of all trades for the Bears, Ware has played four positions (left field, right field, third base and second base) while starting all 29 games.
Â
It is the first time Ware has earned the weekly honor in his impressive four-year career at Mercer. The Bears (23-6) are back in action with five games this week, starting with a pair of in-state road contests at Savannah State and Georgia Southern on Tuesday and Wednesday.
