4/20/2018 11:36:00 AM | Baseball, Softball, Athletics Department
Eight total Mercer broadcasts moved from ESPN3 to newly-introduced ESPN+
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer University athletics department and the Southern Conference announced that select remaining spring broadcasts will be shifted from ESPN3 to the newly-introduced ESPN+ platform due to contractual obligations.
Â
Based on its agreement with the SoCon, ESPN has the contractual authority to shift collegiate athletic events from ESPN3 to the newly-launched ESPN+, which is a subscription-based service that costs viewers $4.99 per month. This movement of content is also occurring at many other Division I conferences that partner with ESPN. Viewers can learn more about the new platform by clicking here.
Â
Eight total Mercer broadcasts will be impacted by the changes. Mercer's three-game softball series against Samford this weekend (April 21-22) will be the first broadcasts shifted. The remaining shifts to ESPN+ include Mercer's three-game baseball series against VMI on April 27-29 as well as two other baseball games vs. The Citadel on May 18-19.
Â
All of Mercer's remaining spring broadcasts are included below with designated streaming services included.
Â
ESPN+ is a direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International in partnership with ESPN and featuring ESPN branded content. The service includes a dynamic lineup of live sports, original content and an unmatched library of award-winning on-demand programming, per an ESPN-issued release.
