Sikes Field (softball)
With the University Center located immediately over the "shoulder" of its rightfield line, Sikes Field provides a convenient and centrally-located home for the Mercer softball team. Sikes Field provides comfortable seating for 300 fans.
The facility was completely rebuilt dring the summer of 2006, transforming it into a premiere collegiate softball venue. The facelift on the venerable facility included a new playing surface, dugouts, bleachers, drainage and irrigation, as well as a computer-controlled lighting system.
Among the other features at Sikes Field is its enclosed pressbox facility and video platform, which provides comfortable seating for media and game-day staff and a perfect vantage point for cameras during live broadcasts. The venue also has a full-service concessions area to enhance the fan experience while watching "Bear Ball!"
While serving as the host for some of the best softball in NCAA Division I as a part of Mercer's schedule, Sikes Field is also annually used for camps, celebrity events and other program-specific purposes.
