Registration Open for Boys Summer Basketball Camps
MACON, Ga. – Mercer University men’s basketball head coach Bob Hoffman will once again be hosting summer camps for boys in 2011. Coach Hoffman will be offering Team Camps, a Day Camp and an Individual Camp.
All camps take place at Mercer University’s beautiful University Center in the heart of the Macon, Ga. campus. Staffing is by the Mercer basketball staff and players, along with select additional coaches.
“Our goal is to provide an experience that helps each individual grow as a basketball player and as a person,” Hoffman said. “We offer a camp setting that accommodates various skill levels, teaches young people solid fundamentals of basketball and provides camp coaches who have high moral values.”
The Team Camp dates are June 10-12 and June 23-25, 2011. Teams are guaranteed eight games, with college and high school referee camps being run in conjunction with the Team Camp. Options are for commuter teams or overnight teams available. Schools can bring multiple teams: varsity, JV and 9th grade.
The Day Camp is June 13-16, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and is open to grades 2 – 12 (based on the next school year). The camp will feature the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, footwork, balance, receiving the ball and live ball moves. There will also be individual and team competition, character training and awards, to name a few things.
Each individual will receive a camp t-shirt and basketball as a part of their registration.
The Individual Camp – for grades 4-12 (based on the next school year) – is geared for overnight guest or all-day campers, running June 26-29. In addition to team and individual skill drills, this camp stresses the fundamentals of basketball highlighted by 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. In addition to contests and competitions, campers will enjoy a basketball video series as a part of their experience. Each registrant also receives a camp t-shirt and basketball.
