
Bears Open 2010 Preseason Against Troy

MACON, Ga – The Mercer women's soccer team opens the 2010 preseason on Thursday as Troy University will head to Bear Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Bears are coming off an 8-6-4 season and their fourth consecutive trip to the Atlantic Sun tournament, their longest run in program history.
The preseason will continue this weekend as the Bears will head to Tophat Football Club in Atlanta to take on Alabama in the final exhibition before the regular season starts on August 22 against Georgia Southern.
Preseason history – The Bears went 2-0 last fall in their exhibition games winning 1-0 against the Crimson Tide and another 1-0 decision win against Georgia College and State.
Scouting the opposition – Troy comes into Macon Thursday's preseason match finishing last season 9-10-1 and 5-5-0 in the Sun Belt. Head Coach Chris Bentley is 17-19-3 entering his fourth year with the Trojans. Eleven returning letterwinners highlight Troy's roster including the team's second leading scorer from last year in Mary Morris. Morris netted six goals and 18 shots on goal in 2009.
