DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sunday's final round of the 2011 LPGA Invitational has been canceled due to heavy rain in the Daytona Beach area. The results from Friday's first round are official, placing the Mercer women's golf team in a tie for fifth place.
Campbell won the event with a team score of 298 while Louisiana Monroe (304), Xavier (306) and Stetson (307) rounded out the top four teams. Mercer tied Daytona State with a tournament score of 310.
Sunday's cancelation comes on the heels of a Saturday rain out, marking the second time this season that Mercer has played in a tournament washed out after the first round.
Mercer's next scheduled competition has the team travel to Oahu, Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on November 1-2.
