Round Two of Chris Bannister Classic Rained Out

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Monday's second round of the Chris Bannister Gamecock Classic was cancelled due to inclement weather in the Huntsville area. The Mercer women's golf team will join the seven other participating programs in the final round of the event starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
The tournament was originally formatted as a three-day, 54-hole tournament, but persistent rain has slowed competition and caused the cancellation of the second round. After Sunday's first round, Mercer is fourth in the team standings with an opening round total of 307.
Mercer's 307 is three strokes ahead of Memphis and just four shots behind Lamar for third place on the leaderboard. Samford leads the eight-team field with a team score of 294.
Sophomore Mary Alice Murphy led the charge for Mercer on Sunday, carding a one-over 73 in the on the opening day of the event. Junior Aurelie Wiriath posted a 76 while sophomore Kimmy Graff and freshman Sarah Louie Brown contributed 79's. Lacey Fears rounded out Mercer's competitors with an 81 on Sunday.
