
Volleyball Defeated at Lipscomb

MACON, Ga. – Three Lipscomb volleyball players reached double-figure kills as the Bisons knocked off Mercer 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena. Lipscomb's sixth straight 3-0 victory moved the team to 17-10 (13-2 A-Sun) while the Bears dropped to 9-17 (5-11 A-Sun).
Mercer senior Jennifer Katona led the way for the Bears offensively, registering seven kills with one error on 19 swings. Junior setter Carly Iannarino handed out 11 assists while adding two digs and two assists.
In the second set, Mercer held a 10-5 advantage before an 8-1 run by Lipscomb put the hosts back in front. In the third set, the Bears trailed 18-17 before the hosts closed out the match on a 7-1 surge.
Junior Emily Rochefort notched eight digs in the loss while senior Monica Sanchez booked seven digs of her own. Charlayna Braxton finished with five blocks, helping the Bears hold an edge in team blocking for the second-straight match.
Mercer returns to A-Sun play at USC Upstate on November 6. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
