
Mercer Volleyball Drops Season Opener to Furman

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Mercer volleyball team dropped its season opener to Furman by a 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16) count as part of the Charleston Southern Tournament. Freshman Molly Locke was credited with a team-high nine kills in the loss.
The statistics for the contest are incomplete based on a technical error at the site of the tournament. Based on video review, the statistics will be updated at a later date.
Locke was also one of three Mercer players to register double-digit digs in the loss. Locke's 12 digs were also a team high, while senior Codi Schepp and junior Emily Rochefort each chipped in 10 of their own.
Senior Monica Sanchez was came up just shy of a double-double with the incomplete results. Her stat line reflects 24 assists and eight digs.
Mercer returns to action at the Charleston Southern Tournament on Saturday, playing Canisius at 9 a.m. before meeting host Charleston Southern at 6 p.m.
