
Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to USC Upstate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Junior Caroline Carlton had 10 kills and senior Carly Iannarino tallied 31 assists as the Mercer volleyball team was defeated 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) by USC Upstate at the Hodge Center on Tuesday evening.
USC Upstate snapped a six-match losing streak and moved to 2-15 (2-6 A-Sun) while Mercer dropped to 1-18 (0-9 A-Sun).
Carlton booked her 10 kills on 24 attempts with only three errors while Iannarino paired her 31 assists with two digs and two kills. Senior libero Emily Rochefort added 14 digs to her league leading total.
Mercer led at various points in all three sets but was unable to come away with a victory. In the third set, Mercer rallied from an 8-2 deficit to take a 16-14 lead before falling 25-23.
Mercer returns home to play Kennesaw State on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Hawkins Arena.
