SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mercer women's soccer team piled up 29 shots and 16 corner kicks, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 0-0 tie at USC Upstate on Sunday afternoon at County University Soccer Stadium.
Mercer's (7-5-2, 2-1-1 A-Sun) 16 corner kicks were the most by any team in the Atlantic Sun Conference in a single-game this season.
The overall shot count in the contest was 29-4 in favor of the Bears, including an 11-0 edge in shots on goal.
Mercer failed to find the back of the net due to the play of USC Upstate goalkeeper Sarah Plantz, who made 11 saves in the match to preserve the scoreless draw.
Junior Washida Blackman paced the Bears with six shots, four of which were on goal.
Mercer returns to the pitch on October 11 when it welcomes in-state rival Kennesaw State to Macon, Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Bear Field.
