KENNESAW, Ga. – The Mercer women's volleyball team concluded its 2013 season with a 3-2 loss at Kennesaw State on Saturday afternoon at the KSU Convocation Center.
Sophomore Molly Locke paced the Bears' attack with an 18-kill, 16-dig double-double. Locke was joined in double-digit kills by junior Cara Tripp (12), junior Caroline Carlton (11) and freshman Ellie James (10).
After going down two sets to one, Mercer dug in and took the fourth set while hitting .225 (13 kills, four errors, 40 attempts) as a team in the frame.
Despite forcing a fifth set against the Owls for the second time this season, it wasn't enough as Kennesaw State built up an early four-point lead and never looked back on its way to a 15-11 deciding set win.
Senior Carly Iannarino finished the match with 32 assists while classmate Emily Rochefort tallied a team-high 25 digs.
Saturday's match represented the final contest for Mercer's 2013 senior class that includes Rochefort, Iannarino, Zoe Becton and Lizzie Knapper.
