BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its second-straight match on the road on Sunday, falling to the University of Alabama-Birmingham 7-0.
Mercer (1-2) couldn't regroup after the loss to Samford on Saturday and didn't pick up a set against UAB on Sunday. The Bears went down by a score of 8-3 in all three doubles matches to start the match and the singles competition didn't improve much from there as all six matches were decided in two sets.
Freshman Isabel Dennis continues to grow into her role in the No. 1 singles slot, but lost 6-2, 6-2 to UAB's Isabel Fernandez on Sunday. Mercer's Natalie Franklin gave the Bears' their closest match in the singles competition with a 6-4, 6-3 loss to UAB's Amy Lowther.
The Bears are back in action next Friday and Saturday when the team heads to Charlotte and Johnson C. Smith.
