The Mercer women's tennis team is set to host Chattanooga in a home match set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center on the campus of Mercer University.
The Bears (4-6, 0-0 A-Sun) are coming off a 5-2 loss to Wofford on Sunday and Wednesday's test against Chattanooga (10-2, 2-2 SoCon) will be the Bears last non-conference match before starting Atlantic Sun play on Saturday at North Florida.
The Bears will have a tough test as Chattanooga comes in as the No. 67 ranked team in the country with its most recent win coming against then No. 59 Elon on Sunday. Mercer is 0-3 against other SoCon teams this season and will look to senior Lucie Payrat to help lead the Bears on Wednesday.
Payrat and freshman Isabel Dennis each have five wins on the season to lead the team and will need to play solid matches against Chattanooga's top players. Chattanooga's Kaylene Chadwell is on an 11-match winning streak at the No. 2 singles position and will likely face Payrat on Wednesday.
