
Women's Tennis Knocks Off Jacksonville State, 4-2

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Mercer women's tennis team opened up a four-game road swing Tuesday afternoon and knocked off Jacksonville State 4-2 at the JSU Tennis Courts in nonconference action.
The Bears (5-7) opened the day with a trio of tightly contested doubles matches as Danielle Jones and Lucie Payrat emerged with an 8-7 victory at the top spot, while Liza Klyachkin and Amanda Bertani earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the first point of the day.
Mercer added to its lead at No. 2 singles when Payrat defeated Claudia Marsala 6-3, 6-4, while Klyachkin knocked off Zoe Bizinos 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. Natalie Franklin's 6-4, 7-6 victory at the No. 5 spot sealed the 4-2 victory.
The Bears return to action Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Charlotte to take on the 49ers. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
