
Women's Tennis Blanked by Michigan State

TAMPA, Fla. – The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its second-straight match Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 to Michigan State at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in nonconference action.
Michigan State quickly picked up the first point of the day with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles and an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles to clinch the opening point. The Bears trailed 6-3 at the No. 1 spot when doubles play concluded.
The Spartans continued to roll in singles action, winning all six singles matches to cruise to a 7-0 shutout victory. Lucie Payrat was the only player to force a third set when she captured the opening set 6-1, but she fell 6-3, 7-5 in the next two sets as the Spartans picked up the win.
The Bears return to action Saturday afternoon, taking on Tampa at 2 p.m.
