Men's Golf Moves into Tie for Sixth at Mason Rudolph

MACON, Ga. – Junior Trey Rule shot 2-under 69 to help the Mercer men's golf team move up the standings in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Classic on Saturday. As a team, the Bears used 289 strokes on Saturday are now tied for sixth place at the event.
Mercer's 289 paired with Friday's 295, positioning the squad just one stroke behind Georgia Southern. Vanderbilt (573) jumped into the lead after shooting 284 on Saturday while Alabama (575) is second and Kennesaw State (580) is third.
Rule was rock solid throughout, notching 16 pars and two birdies to move into a tie for eighth place individually. His 69 followed a 74 in the opening round, leaving him six strokes of the pace of the tournament leader.
Senior James Beale shot even-par 71 on Friday and came back with a 3-over-74 on Saturday. His two-day total of 145 places him in a tie for 13th with 18 holes to play.
Freshman Sean Smothers signed for an even-par 71 on Saturday and is tied for 20th at 146. Freshman Emmanuel Kountakis used 77 strokes on Saturday and is tied for 52nd at 152. Senior Hans Reimers is slotted 60th after opening with rounds of 79 and 75.
The final round of the Mason Rudolph Classic is set to start at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
