GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Mercer University women's soccer team narrowly fell to UNCG, 1-0, on Friday night at the UNCG Soccer Complex.
TURNING POINT
Caylin Prillaman scored in the 31st minute when she headed a ball into the net off a long serve from Zoe Fishman. Prillaman and Maggie Cropp went up for the ball at the same time, with Prillaman just a foot in front of Cropp. Prillaman was able to head the ball moments before Cropp would have had it in her hands, sending it over Cropp's head and into the goal. Mercer had a few chances in the second half, but was unable to put one away to equalize.
WOMAN OF THE MATCH
Maddie Clark led the Bears with three shots on the night, including two on goal. Clark was one of five Mercer players who spent the entire 90 minutes on the field.
STAT OF THE GAME
UNCG led Mercer in shots, 12-7, as well as shots on goal, 6-3.
NOTABLES
- Maggie Cropp made five saves for the Bears in goal, allowing just the one goal on the night.
- Sarah Daane fired off a pair of shots for the Orange and Black, putting one on goal.
- Jorden Christensen and Jamilah Tejan each tallied a shot as well.
- Mercer held a 4-2 advantage over UNCG in corner kicks.

Mercer moves to 6-6-3 (3-2-1 SoCon), while UNCG moves to 6-8-3 (4-2-1 SoCon).
UP NEXT
Mercer will play its final road game of the season on Sunday, Oct. 18th, when the Bears take on the VMI Keydets. The match is set to kick off at 1:00 p.m. in Lexington, Va.
