QUOTABLES
"It was a huge game for us today and we knew it had a lot of tournament implications, as far as seeding goes. It was a very good Furman team, and it was an even game and we battled back and forth; I think they had more shots, but it was even on shots on goal. We had more corner kicks, but to their credit, they were a little bit hungrier than us on a set piece and put a corner kick away. We had a couple of good looks in front of goal on some set pieces, but we just couldn't get it done today. Luckily for us, it's a new season starting tomorrow and we get to host ETSU on Saturday. We're looking for a great crowd to come out and support us, win that one and get into the final four of the SoCon Tournament." – Head Coach Tony Economopoulos.
RECORDS UPDATE
Mercer moves to 8-7-3 (5-3-1 SoCon), while Furman improves to 14-4-1 (7-1-1 SoCon).
UP NEXT
Mercer earned a No. 4 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament and will host No. 5 ETSU in the second round of play on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Bear Field.
