
Women's Golf Takes Eighth at SoCon Championship

POOLER, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team turned in a 312 in Tuesday's final round of the Southern Conference Championship to take eighth place at the event.
Tuesday's 312 put the Bears' three-day total at 923, just two strokes behind UNCG for seventh place. Furman took home the team title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 56-hole score of 858.
Mercer's top finisher was freshman Hannah Mae Deems, who placed 11th after carding a 79 on Tuesday. Deems opened the event with rounds of 2-under 70 and 1-under 71.
Her classmate Jaelyn Tindal tied for 21st with a tournament score of 227. Tindal used 77 strokes on Tuesday and shot 74-76 in the first two rounds. Sophomore Marin Hanna closed with her best round of the tournament, shooting 75 on Tuesday to tie for 32nd place. Hanna also shot 80 on Sunday and 77 on Monday.
Senior Sarah Louie Brown sandwiched a second round 82 between a pair of 81's to place 40th at 244. Junior Meredith Owen recorded scores of 83, 82 and 83 to placed 43rd at 248.
