PINEHURST, N.C. – Senior Trey Rule finished fourth overall at the 2015 SoCon Championship, earning All-SoCon honors along with teammate Emmanuel Kountakis to lead the men's golf team on the final day of action. Freshman Jerry Ren joined the tandem on the SoCon awards list, earning All-Freshman Team recognition.
"Manny and Trey had some very solid tournaments this season and it was great to see them honored for their hard work with recognition on the all-conference team," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "It's also exciting to have Jerry on the all-freshman team, he is very detailed oriented in all aspects of his game and the future looks bright for him."
The Bears finished their SoCon Championship debut in seventh place, carding a 17-over-par 305 to close the tournament with a total tally of 895. ETSU defeated UNCG in a playoff to win the team title with a three-round score of 862.
Rule carded a 3-over 75 in Tuesday's final round to end the tournament with a 2-under total of 214. The Eatonton, Ga. native shined once again in postseason play, notching a team-high 12 birdies and one eagle this weekend after taking home the individual crown at the 2014 Atlantic Sun Championship.
