
Men's Soccer Downs Presbyterian, 2-0, in 2015 Home Opener

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer University men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Presbyterian on Friday night to open the home slate of the schedule.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer took control early when Conner Antley headed the ball into the left side of the net in the seventh minute to put the Bears up 1-0. Kobe Perez added a second goal and some breathing room in the 78th minute off a free kick.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Kobe Perez scored Mercer's second goal of the night off a free kick, getting the ball in the net before the Presbyterian wall was completely set. Perez tallied two shots and one shot on goal for the game.
STAT OF THE GAME
Mercer led Presbyterian in corner kicks, 10-1, which included a 7-0 advantage in the first 45 minutes of play.
NOTABLES
- Mercer has won its last two home openers, while posting a 4-3-1 mark in the team's Bear Field debuts during the Brad Ruzzo era.
- The Bears are now 8-1 at home over the past two seasons, including a 3-1 mark against non-conference opponents.
- Conner Antley's goal was the second overall and first game-winning goal of the season for the junior.
- Kobe Perez scored the first goal of his career as he gave the Bears a 2-0 lead.

- Booth and the Bears' defense notched their third shutout of the year, after limiting the Blue Hose to just four shots in the match.

Mercer will face Lipscomb on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at Bear Field. The game will be the second of a double header, as the women's team is set to play at 4:00 p.m.
