Bears shoot season-low 286 in second round of play

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Mary Janiga shot another 3-under-par 69 on Tuesday and is tied for the individual lead after 36 holes of play at the Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne.

Janiga's impressive performance has her in the hunt for the tournament's individual title while Mercer owns sole possession of fourth place overall after a season-low 286 (-2) on Tuesday. The Bears are shooting even-par (576) with 18 holes remaining in Columbia.

Third-round action will start with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. (ET) on Wednesday. Live scoring can be followed on BirdieFire.com.

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
Mercer did not climb the team leaderboard despite shooting 2-under-par on Tuesday. It was the Bears' lowest single-round team score of the season. Mercer enters Wednesday's final round five shots behind third-place Fresno State. Host Missouri (-12) owns a six-stroke lead on the field.

Mercer on Individual Scoreboard
One day after shooting a collegiate-low 69, Mary Janiga followed her first-round performance with an identical score in round two. The senior, who birdied three of the final four holes – No. 15, 16, 17 – after bogeys on No. 13 and 14, is in a three-way tie for the clubhouse lead with FGCU's Laura Edmonds and Missouri's Emma Allen.

Freshman Carol Pyon had the Bears' second-best round of the tournament with a 2-under-par 70. Despite recording bogeys on her final two holes of play, Pyon notched birdies on No. 3, 11 and 14 and also picked up her first collegiate eagle on par-5 hole No. 9.
