MACON, Ga. – Mercer Women's Basketball Head Coach Susie Gardner announced the hiring of Drew Landers as the Director of Player Personnel on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
"Drew was the video coordinator at Virginia and the DOBO at Ole Miss, so the combination of his two previous jobs morphed well with the role of Director of Player Personnel here at Mercer," Gardner said. "He fits the exact description with what we need and there is already a strong chemistry within this new staff."
Â
Prior to his arrival at Mercer, Landers previously served as the Director of Basketball Operations at his alma mater, Ole Miss. While with the women's basketball program, Landers planned team travel, lodging and meals and also acted as the team liaison with opponents, compliance office and senior athletic staff. Landers was also in charge of recruiting practice players, managing the team budget and mentoring support staff and student-athletes.
Â
During the 2016-17 season, Landers spent time as the Video Coordinator for the University of Virginia Women's Basketball program. His role with the Cavaliers included providing the coaching staff with opponent video, capturing video of practices, games and special projects assigned by coaching staff. Landers also spearheaded graphics and video production for social media platforms and recruiting student-athletes.
Â
Prior to his role at Virginia, Landers served as an Orange Bowl Ambassador Program Assistant from August 2015-June 2016. With the Orange Bowl Committee, Landers managed recruitment, training, assignment of duties/events and record-keeping. The Ole Miss graduate was also in charge of providing operational team of Ambassadors for each annual event and teaching them their role.
Â
Landers is the son of former Georgia Women's Basketball Coach and 2007 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Andy Landers. Landers earned his start in the college basketball world as both a men and women's basketball intern at the University of Georgia during the 2014-15 season. With the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs, Landers edited film, created opponent playbooks and conducted scouting reports. Landers also prepared scout team and taught tendencies of upcoming opponents.
Â
Landers graduated from Ole Miss with a Bachelor's in Business Administration in December, 2013.
