Coach Kayden's Take
"The guys played some really solid golf today," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "Par five play was a big difference for us; we had a lot of birdies on those holes. The guys came through on those specific holes. It was solid play throughout our lineup, top to bottom. We have a long way to go, but we have some confidence and I expect us to build upon this."
Mercer on Team Leaderboard
With 36 holes remaining, Mercer is the field leader at 4-under-par. Host UNCG is the next closest team at 5-over-par. The top four teams in the tournament after round one are all Southern Conference programs (Mercer, UNCG, Samford, Chattanooga).
Mercer on Individual Leaderboard
The Bears collectively dominated on Sunday with six golfers inside the top 19 individually. Plukka and Rosete are tied for third at 2-under-par (70) after shooting three and four birdies, respectively.
