Bears tied for third after second-round called short due to darkness
TAMPA, Fla. – The Mercer men's golf team is tied for third place with four holes left to play in the second round of the USF Invitational at Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club.
Mercer ended the first round in second place after shooting one-under-par 287 over the first 18 holes of play on Monday. The second round was called for the day at 7:30 p.m. due to darkness. The first day of action in Tampa started with a 35-minute delay due to fog.
Teams will resume the second round Tuesday at 8 a.m. and then play continuously through the third round. Pairings for the third round will stay the same as they've been.

"The guys played solid golf for the most part today," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "They made good decisions off the tee on a tight course. Stanton, Tyler and Spencer are all inside the top 15 at this point after strong play during the first day.
"We're in a very good position into the final day and I'm confident that we will come out ready to go for the final 22 holes."
Mercer on Team Leaderboard
With four holes left in the second round, Mercer is tied for third place with Illinois State at two-over-par. The Bears shot 287 (-1) over the opening 18 holes. Mercer only trails host No. 22 USF (-4) and Southern Illinois (E).
Mercer on Individual Leaderboard
Spencer Ball, Stanton Schorr and Tyler Copp all shot under par in the first round and were tied for sixth and ninth, respectively, through the first 18 holes.
