Schorr in Hunt After 36 Holes at Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Senior Stanton Schorr shot his second consecutive 69 (-3) and is one shot off the individual lead after 36 holes played at the Linger Longer Invitational at The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

Schorr led the charge for Mercer, which collectively shot 290 (+2) in the second round on Saturday and owns sole possession of eighth place on the team leaderboard. Mercer will play alongside Ohio State and Virginia in Sunday's final round. The Bears will tee off from 8:30-9:06 a.m.

Coach Kayden's Take
"Stanton had another outstanding day individually with a bogey-free round," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "It was a very solid round and he's right there going into the final 18 holes. The rest of our guys had things get away from them a bit in the middle of the round before we rallied back at the end.

"I was proud of Lino Galdin for shooting even-par and recovering from a triple-bogey early on. It wasn't our best round, but with a strong performance on Sunday, we could have a great finish in a very competitive field."

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
Mercer has shot 286-290 through 36 holes played and is at even par heading into Sunday's final round. The Bears are just four shots behind fifth-place UNCG and owns a four-stroke lead on ninth-place Virginia.

Mercer on Individual Leaderboard
Stanton Schorr continued to dazzle with a three-under-par 69 that included birdies on holes No. 1, 3 and 5. He shot par on the final 13 holes of play and will head into Sunday's round just one shot off of a three-way tie for first place. Lino Galdin shot Mercer's second-lowest score of the day with an even-par 72.
