Mercer senior tied for fourth after carding even-par 72
BATON ROUGE, La. – Mary Janiga led the Mercer women's golf team with a first-round, even-par 72 at the LSU-hosted Tiger Golf Classic on Friday at the University Club.
Mercer shot 305 (+17) over the first 18 holes and is in sole possession of seventh place. Janiga is currently tied for fourth place individually.

The Bears are just four strokes outside of the top five heading into Saturday's second round. No. 25 Campbell (+3) leads the 10-team field. Mercer is one shot ahead of Chattanooga (+18).

Janiga, who started on hole No. 10, collected two birdies on holes No. 15 and No. 3. The senior is tied for fourth after shooting 72 in the first round and is just three strokes behind clubhouse leader, Emily Hawkins (Campbell, -3). Two other Bears, Carol Pyon – who is playing as an individual – and Karina Kukkonen – are inside the top 15 individually.
