Pyon in Hunt for Individual Title at Tiger Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. – Mercer freshman Carol Pyon shot a second-round 73 on Saturday at the LSU-hosted Tiger Golf Classic at the University Club and enters Sunday's final round just three strokes off the clubhouse leader.

Pyon, who is playing as an individual, is two-over-par for the tournament after carding a 73 in each of the first two rounds. Mercer (+40) is in ninth place overall after a second-round 311.

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
Mercer fell back two spots on the team leaderboard Saturday and is in nine place heading into the final round of competition. Mercer sits comfortably ahead of 10th-place Tulane and is just six strokes off LSU and No. 19 TCU, which are tied for fourth place.

Three Bears rank inside the top 13 individually heading into the final round, including Pyon (+2), Mary Janiga (+7) and Karina Kukkonen (+7). Pyon overcame a double bogey on her second hole (No. 11) with three birdies the rest of the way, including two on the front nine.

Pyon trails clubhouse leader Ana Gonzalez of UTSA, who is one-under-par, by just three strokes with 18 holes remaining in Baton Rouge.
