Mercer shoots second-round 305, sits in third place overall
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Mercer senior Karina Kukkonen jumped six spots into a tie for third place individually as the Bears shot a second-round 305 at the 2019 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club on Monday.

Mercer (+27) dropped one spot as a team and sits in third place heading into Tuesday's final round of play. All five Bears are tied for 23rd or better through 36 holes.

Karina Kukkonen made the biggest jump among the Bears, moving up six spots into a tie for third place with a second-round 73. The senior played a near-clean round, overcoming bogeys on holes No. 2 and 3 with a birdie on No. 7 and an even-par back-nine. All five Bears remained inside the top-25 individually, including Lauren Lightfritz, who is tied for eighth.
