Former Mercer tight end gets opportunity with Atlanta Falcons

MACON, Ga. – Former Mercer tight end Sam Walker has earned an invitation to the Atlanta Falcons rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis.

The announcement came after the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft, held on April 25-27. Atlanta will hold the rookie mini-camp over a three-day period in the month of May at its facilities in Flowery Branch. A four-year standout at tight end for the Bears, Walker finished his collegiate career this past fall.

The Cumming, Ga., native caught 86 passes for 896 yards and eight touchdowns during his career. He was named a team captain for the 2018 campaign and is a former Southern Conference All-Freshman Team selection.
