Bears shoot seven-under-par over 36 holes on Saturday
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Mercer shot a season-low 36-hole score of 569 (284-285) on the first day of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club on Saturday.

The Bears (-7) are in sixth place in a 15-team field that features six nationally-ranked programs.

Coach Kayden's Take
"We played solid golf over the first two rounds of a nationally-ranked event," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "I'm proud of their efforts today. Stanton and Martin were terrific in the second round as they led us. We'll need to continue to play our game on Sunday and stay focused on the course."

Mercer on Team Leaderboard
The Bears enter Sunday's final round ranked ahead of No. 23 Illinois and No. 24 USC Aiken after shooting their lowest 36-hole score of the season. Mercer is two strokes behind Augusta for fifth place.

Mercer on Individual Leaderboard
Schorr and Plukka were scorching in the second round, shooting 66 and 69, respectively to lead Mercer through the first day of competition. Schorr tallied six birdies and one eagle in the second round. Plukka added an eagle on hole No. 6.
