Mercer Women in Ninth After Day One

Bears complete first 18 at Mason Rudolph Classic
NASHVILLE – Carol Pyon and Laila Hrindova led the Mercer women's golf team on day one of the Mason Rudolph Classic hosted by Vanderbilt at the Vanderbilt Legends North Course Friday.

Pyon and Hrindova both shot even par (72) to lead the Bears and tie for 12th place in the field of 80. Pyon birdied three holes on the back nine to bounce back from a rough start and Hrindova parred 13 holes on the day.

As a team, Mercer turned in a solid round placing ninth of 15 teams with a 293 (+5). The Bears finished ahead of Auburn, Northwestern and Missouri among others – while trailing Southern Conference foe Chattanooga by a stroke for eighth place.

Mercer is paired with Mississippi State and Chattanooga for day two and will tee things off at 8:30 Saturday morning on the first hole – Lightfritz, Rodriguez, Schanen, Hrindova and Pyon will start at 8:30, 8:40, 8:50, 9:00 and 9:10 respectively.
