Mercer Unveils 2020 Football Schedule
2/4/2020 12:00:00 PM | Football
Mercer will have five games at Five Star Stadium in 2020.
2020 Schedule
Â
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Football team and first-year head coach Drew Cronic announced the 2020 schedule on Tuesday morning.
Â
"I'm an old Southern Conference guy, so I'm looking forward to getting back into this tough conference," said Cronic. "There's a lot of great teams and coaching staffs, so that will be extremely challenging to be competitive in the SoCon. Having coached at Five Star Stadium before, I know how passionate the fans here can be and how much of a home field advantage Mercer has. This is one of the best gameday experiences in the FCS, which is one of the top reasons I wanted to come lead this football team. I'm looking forward to having that great support behind us again this season and for seasons to come.
"The 2020 schedule is a schedule that requires us to be our best every week and work to improve upon the previous week. I'm not worried about who we're playing a lot. I'm more focused on us being the best we can be. We'll get ready to go, take things one game at a time and see what we can do."
Cronic's debut with the Bears will come on the road at Vanderbilt (Sept. 5) with Mercer's sixth matchup against an FBS opponent in the last five years. The Black and Orange open SoCon play the following week against Western Carolina (Sept. 12) in their home opener. Mercer hits the road for the next two games at Wofford (Sept. 19) and Campbell (Sept. 26) before its bye week.
The Bears then return home to Five Star Stadium for a pair of SoCon matchups against The Citadel (Oct. 10) and Furman (Oct. 17) before closing out the month on the road. Mercer is set to square off against Chattanooga (Oct. 24) and Samford (Oct. 31). The Bears will close out their home slate against ETSU (Nov. 7) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 14), before wrapping up the 2020 campaign at VMI (Nov. 21).
Season tickets for the 2020 season will go on sale Wednesday. To find out the latest information regarding ticket prices, seat locations and game day information, please call (478) 301-5470.
