FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Mercer men's golf team finds itself ranked seventh of 15 teams after the first two rounds of the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate, hosted by Loyola (Md.), at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club on Monday.
Â

COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"I thought we had a good second round. It was a good all-around team effort. We had three guys shoot even par and Tyler shot a 1-under. Tyler was very consistent all day. I'm very proud of his efforts to lead us. He's right there in a good position going into the final round. He played solid golf all day long through some strong 20-25 mph winds. It felt like the guys handled the wind really well in the second round. We played some of the tough holes into the wind very smartly and made good decisions when the wind was high this afternoon. In the first round, we had to count a 78 which is a high score that we need to fix. Â We can't be counting high scores like that to keep up. That hurt our position in the field, but it was a good comeback by the guys. Seven of our counting rounds were solid.
Â
"We need a good day tomorrow. With a good round tomorrow, we could really move up the leaderboard. We're only eight shots out of second place so in team golf that's not that much if you have a good day. We need to come out with confidence, play hard, sink some birdies and get it rolling."
