Fred Davis Cleans Up Myriad Of Weekly Honors

Fred Davis Named SoCon and Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week
MACON, Ga. – Mercer University football star Fred Davis pulled in a myriad of weekly awards for his stellar performance in the Bears win over Samford. Davis was honored as the Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, the College Football Performance Awards FCS National Performer of the Week, and the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week.
Davis rewrote the Mercer record book on Saturday, rushing for 276 yards and five touchdowns. His 276 rushing yards shattered the previous school record of 202 yards. The Redshirt Freshman averaged nearly 10 yards per carry (9.9) on the game while rushing for touchdowns of 31, 21, 54, one and two yards.
He becomes just the 15th FCS player over the last 25 years to have 275+ rushing yards and five or more rushing touchdowns in the same game.
The Fortson, GA native leads the Bears with 432 rushing yards and seven touchdowns throughout the first four games of the season. He is averaging 108 yards per game on the ground.
