Lance Wise Named SoCon Defensive Player Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After a dominant performance in the Mercer win over The Citadel, Lance Wise has been named SoCon Defensive Player of the week.

Wise was a force during the game, tying for a team high in tackles with 10, nine of those being solo tackles. The Bears sophomore broke the game open when he intercepted the Bulldogs pass and returned it 34 yards to the house to give Mercer a 27-7 lead with 4:27 remaining.

The Marietta, GA native is third on team in tackles this season with 44, including 27 solo tackles which leads the team. Wise has two interceptions on the season which he's returned for a combined 90 yards.

This is the second time this season that Wise has been named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week. The last time was after the Bears took down Western Carolina.

Wise and the rest of the Bears will be back in action on Saturday, November 13 at Five Star Stadium against Chattanooga. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
